What is Imperfect Produce?
Imperfect produce is produce that cannot be sold in stores due to numerous (and kind of ridiculous) factors.
If the food item has the slightest blemish, it immediately becomes unsellable. Some of the items that have “blemishes” you can actually hardly even tell – or maybe the broccoli stalks were broken but it’s still perfectly good.
Doesn’t Meet Requirements
If the buyer has a certain way the food has to be packaged or manufactured, and some of the food items aren’t up to those standards, then they are no longer any good for that consumer.
If farmers plan for an excess of sales that just don’t come due to a change in the diet fads, or a buyer that backed out of a sale, all of that extra food goes to waste.
Some parts of food items are removed and discarded, although they are perfectly good parts of the produce! An example of this would be broccoli leaves – I know, what?? – exactly! You may not know what they are because they are removed and discarded before you get the broccoli florets in store.
Change in Packaging
Companies rebrand – that’s a common part of being in business – but then what happens to all that food in the old packaging? It often goes to waste since it cannot be used anymore with the companies’ new branding.
If a food is set to expire within a few months, grocery stores will often not stock that product. So instead of finding that product a good home that will use it within that time frame, that food often sits in a warehouse somewhere until it’s completely expired and has to be trashed.
How Does it Work?
It’s super simple! When you get started, you choose whether you want organic or regular produce. Then you customize your order and voila!
You repeat this each week to customize your orders as needed.

Yes! Once you sign up, you will receive a notification once your first order is preparing to ship. From there, you can log in and customize your order within their customization window.
How Much Does it Cost?
Some areas have a minimum order of $30 – otherwise, you just pay the shipping of $4.99 or $5.99 depending on your area!
The weekly estimated subtotal for the regular box is $27/week and $35/week for the organic box.
You can choose to have your groceries delivered weekly or bi-weekly. You can also skip an order if needed!
